Feng shui your web site

Less is Good

This relates to the fact that more free space (on a web page) would allow positive energy or ch’i to flow around which then in turn would create a positive environment. Negative ch’i is obtained when the energy stagnates in one area.

To apply this to a page, perhaps more curves could be introduced rather than long straight lines, open spaces with perhaps more use of paragraphs in content and padding around tables.

Navigational links to other pages should be clear, allowing positive energy to flow through the whole site.

Colours

Clean crisp colours which are bold will attract a user’s attention and should be used around the web page as this helps ch’i to flow. Dark colours or white text on a black background is a definite no no. It’s what we’ve been taught at a young age, inbuilt within our subconscious and for good reason! Dark colours attract negative energy which could result in users staying on the site for a few moments or hastily rushing through the pages.

Calm soothing colours such as blue or white are recommended for large areas of space, whilst colours such as red and orange are regarded as being positive.

Yin and Yang

The balance of Yin and Yang is an important part of Feng Shui studies and can be defined as two opposites such as Male and Female, Young and Old, Inside and Outside etc.,.

So using an example of a web site which is split into two columns and there’s content text in one column and graphics in another, perhaps the ideal balance would be to swap some graphics into the text section and likewise some content into the graphics section. It’s all about balance.

Other Tips

Implement Google Analytics to check where your visitors are going, where they are clicking and which pages they are leaving from. If applying Feng Shui to your site has helped, I'd love to find out.

Websites are not television

Have you noticed that websites today are adapting the concept of television?

Nowadays, web sites are complete with state-of-the-art graphics, sounds and videos. To top it all up, advertisements are also rampant. On a single page alone, you get to see a lot of products or services being offered. Makes one wonder if websites are giving television a run for their money.

But what website owners are missing out is that their visitors are not there to watch television. If they were, they would not be browsing on your site in the first place.

Visitors are there for a purpose; to get information fast and leave. With all the things you have put into your site, chances are your visitors will long be gone before your main page can even load. The fact is, most are viewing your web site on a screen that is between 15 and 19 inches wide, can only see 216 colors, and can only download at 28.8 kb per second.

As a website owner, you should make sure you are on a 28.8 connection; type in the URL for your web page; hit enter, and hold your breath. Your web page should be no larger then 50K. Less than 30K is best.

Take note that the number one visited web site home page is under 21k. You heard right. Yahoo's home page is only 20k. One of the main reasons why it is quite popular in any part of the world. This might seem like very little but you really can do a lot within that size.

Why do you do that?

Use more design and fewer graphic. For a web page to be successful, it needs to download quickly and look good. The most common dilemma that owners encounter is they are torn between downloading quickly and looking good.

Instead of designing graphics and taking pictures and turning them into jpgs to make your web page look good, try using color schemes. Use cell colors to make boarders. Use the negative space on your web site. What is not there is just as important as what is there.

Remember sometimes less is more. When in doubt think of a typical visitor coming to your web page. Would that extra graphic sell them or keep them coming back again and again. If the answer is yes, by all means keep it.

If the answer is "well maybe" or "it just looks good there", yank it. Viewers will appreciate not waiting more then they have to. The web is here to make our life easier not to sit in front of a screen waiting for heavy web pages to download.

Newspapers take to the internet

The Internet has accelerated a long-established cultural trend: more and more people are getting their news from electronic sources rather than the newspaper. Television and radio have made steady inroads; the trend really accelerated with as cable TV crept into a majority of American households and all those specialty channels became available to the populace. The noisiest, if not most successful cable channels are the news feeds that can be found in multiple formats and languages.

Now, the Internet has made further incursions into what was once the kingdom of Hearst, Wrigley and the Big Apple's Grey Lady: The New York Times. The once mighty Times is down to a quarter of a million in daily circulation and most of that is in the suburbs. It is also true that the Times is changin' however, as are most dailies and many community newspapers. Some papers, like the New York Times, have developed a number of features that are designed to maximize the internet's ability to target.

The NY Times and the Washington Post are two prominent examples of papers that publish daily online versions of their papers, which are updated several times daily. Moreover, they produce specialty sections that the online reader can select from a menu and have delivered daily via email. The Post will provide you with a section on technology or one on the arts, for example; each email is delivered daily with minimal graphics and perhaps half a dozen in-depth articles on the selected topic.

Most papers have similar "newsfeeds" that are provided based on selected areas of interest. Some papers also have developed blogging sections that solicit feedback on articles, attempting to retain "viewer" interest. And as online newspapers have grown more sophisticated in presenting information, they have also developed higher quality graphics that include lots of quality digital photographs - and increasingly, video.

The New York Times has taken to using video in its obit section. Their editors are sending camera crews to interview prominent and aging individuals so that they have video footage "in the can" for use upon the demise of the subject personality. The video is augmented with a voice-over or talking head delivering the standard obituary fare detailing the deceased's life, accomplishments, and surviving loved ones.

The Washington Post has inaugurated an online feature that is a series of interviews with interesting people and/or people with interesting careers. These are simply feature pieces that would once have been long written pieces in the features section accompanied by a set of photos. Now, they are video presentations of the individual talking into a camera about the facets of their lives that make them newsworthy. The pieces are edited so that they are not interviews, but rather singular presentations by the person who is being highlighted.

The San Jose Mercury News takes advantage of its hometown industrial base to turn out a regular online feature focused on the Silicon Valley: its businesses, trials and tribulations. While the Merc delivers this regular feature for free, the San Jose Business Journal wants a subscription fee.

That is also true of all the business journals operated by the parent company - which produces business weeklies for perhaps thirty of the nation's largest cities. It is increasingly true of specialty periodicals such as Business Week, which offers its online product for a fee. Specialty news services are finding that the subscription model can work just as well online as on the news rack.

Divorce and the child custody evaluation

Getting prepared for the Child Custody Evaluation can be nerve racking, but if you take these things into consideration they can guide to you toward a successful Child Custody hearing.

You should be friendly, sincere and candid in your approach toward the opposing attorney. You should the look at the psychological evaluation as if it is a job interview. You should never confide with psychologist. If you do, it may be used against you later. Answer the questions in short, brief, direct sentences. Never give more information than you have to.

You should not say anything against the other parent and his or her family. Show that you know your children and you know about their interests, hobbies, teachers, friends, their educational aims, etc. You should let the psychologist know about all the good qualities of your children. If the psychologist wants to know anything negative about the other parent, you should simply narrate an incident with the facts and stop at that, the psychologist needs to draw the conclusion.

You shouldn’t make any accusation regarding any type of abuse like physical, mental or sexual, until there is enough proof for the same. The psychologist can report to CYS for further investigation for child abuse, if you suspect child abuse, then you should report to CYS instead of making allegations, since false allegations can prove damaging to your reputation and this case as well.

You will require to prepare for the interactional sessions, for this you can bring games, food, homework, anything that might seem appropriate, you should not stray away from the target, you should also make a list of doctors, temples or churches, etc. schools, you should also be aware of any special need of your child and inform the doctor about how you are going to go about fulfilling this need.

So that you remain mentally strong, cool and collected you should get a good night’s sleep. You should pay the psychologist’s fees promptly and try to impress him since his report carries a lot of weight with the judge. In case the psychologist wanted additional information, you can send him information along with a short note about it. You should not call the psychologist unless he wishes so.

You should showcase the current needs of your children instead of focusing on the other parent’s failures. Since the contested Child Custody case is never a finality, you can modify the case and resulting Child Custody schedule at any time later.

Do you know if you are dehydrated

Keeping your body hydrated is extremely important to your health and you need to know the warning signs of dehydration so you can take action, especially if you have a very active lifestyle. Your body needs a minimum of 64 oz of water per day. That’s at least 8 glasses of water and you could probably drink more.

If you live in a warmer climate then you may need to drink more than 8 glasses. If you active in sports or have a hectic stressful lifestyle then you may also need to drink more.

You should:

1) Start drinking water soon after you wake up. A squirt of lemon is a good idea for your first glass of the day.

2) Take sips rather than gulping down water all at once.

3) Drink steadily throughout the day especially if you are active.

4) You can also get some liquid into your system by eating fruits and vegetables which contain anywhere from 70% to 92% of water.

Here are some signs that you are dehydrated:

1) Fatigue

2) Flushed skin

3) Dry mouth

4) Dry lips

5) Cramps

6) Headache

7) Sunken eyes

8) Stiff Joints

9) Dark Urine

When you wake up in the morning your urine should be clear with no odor. This is a quick and easy way to tell if you are dehydrated.

You can alleviate many physical problems just by drinking the appropriate amount of water per day. This is especially true if you have difficulty with constipation. When you drink water it gets into the intestines where some of it gets into the bloodstream to nourish all the cells of the body, some goes to other major organs such as the kidneys, bladder etc., but the rest is utilized by the colon to remove fecal matter. You would not expect your toilet to flush properly without water, it is also true for your body. You will not be able to flush sufficient fecal matter without enough water in your system.

As you start getting older you can lose some of your ability to recognize if you are thirsty so it is especially important for the elderly to drink water through out the day. So many physical problems for the elderly stem from being dehydrated.

Dehydration can be a serious problem but it is easily handled. Pay attention to your body and learn to recognize the symptoms and drink, drink, drink water all day long. You’ll be glad you did.

How to study for a test

I am frequently asked, “How do I study for tests?” This question actually puts the “cart before the horse” because the efficient way to study for tests is to do your homework on time, ask questions in class, and learn information as it is taught, not just memorize the night before. There are easy ways to do these tasks, but this article will assume that you have a test tomorrow and you need some help…now!

How the Brain Works

To maximize your study time, it is helpful to know how your brain works. The most significant thing your brain does to learn new information is to connect new knowledge to concepts you already know. For example, you must know about earthquakes before you can understand the Richter Scale. The connection process is vital! When you struggle to learn new information, it is usually because you are not able to make a connection to something you already understand. If you have experienced a moment when something finally “clicked,” that was the moment that your brain made a connection.

Connections help you learn new information, but visual images help you recall it. Visual images are powerful memory-enhancing tools because brains tend to think in images. Pictures, graphs, maps, and symbols help your brain see new concepts, see the relationship between concepts, and give you an image to “connect” new information.

Next, your brain best remembers “firsts” and “lasts;” the first few sentences you read, the last few comments your teacher said, etc. For example, as a teacher is lecturing in class, it is common to listen to the first few minutes before drifting into daydreams. Eventually, you sense that the lecture is about to end, so you “snap” back into attention and catch the last few sentences. Because of this, you can learn as much in three, 30-minute study sessions as you can in three straight hours of studying.

Finally, your brain must be healthy to be efficient. Proper sleep, nutrition, and hydration help you think clearly while you are studying and while you are taking your test.

So, how DO you study for that test?

** Action Plan **

Step 1: Know the test format. Ask your teacher or call a friend, but you do need to know if you are preparing for multiple choice or essay questions.

Step 2: Collect all homework, worksheets, handouts (You kept all of these, didn’t you?), and notes covering the tested material. Create two groups of papers by separating quizzes and graded assignments.

Step 3: Open your text-book to the tested sections and “read” the pictures, graphs, and diagrams; look at each one, read the captions, and ask yourself, “What is this picture? Why is it here? What did I learn about this in school?” These connection questions refresh your memory from lectures and class activities and help your brain “attach” new information from your notes and handouts.

Step 4: Take a short, 2-4 minute study break every 30 minutes. Get a drink, do a few jumping jacks, or grab a short snack to refresh your brain.

Step 5: Review your packet of quizzes and graded assignments. These are gold! Pay close attention to all questions you originally had wrong. Figure out the correct answers and make sure you understand your errors. Read all other questions, notes, and diagrams on these papers. As you read each problem or paragraph, stop and think of a connection to one of the visuals from your textbook.

Step 6: Create a 5x8-inch “cheat-sheet.” Certainly, I am not suggesting you actually cheat, but creating a cheat-sheet as you study is a great learning process. In high school, one teacher let us use one 5x8-inch index card of notes when taking tests. We thought very carefully about information we might need before writing anything down. Interestingly, we rarely looked at the card when taking the test because the process of thinking about what was most important, then writing it down, helped us remember the information.

Step 7: Review your remaining handouts and notes. First, look at the visuals on these pages. Then, read the headings and sub-headings on each handout and turn them into questions. Read the text to help you answer your questions. This strategy helps you identify key points and think in “question mode,” which is what you will do on the test.

Step 8: Read your “cheat-sheet.” Now that you have reviewed all of your study resources, you must memorize important items, such as definitions, formulas, important dates, “the five key elements of…” or “the three most important things about…” Create potential test questions from the information on your cheat-sheet, then answer them. Make connections to things you already know…class activities, pictures from the text book, or even silly things (such as Never Eat Shredded Wheat” to remember the clockwise order of north, east, south, and west).

Step 9: Get a good night’s sleep. Eat a good breakfast. Drink water to keep your brain hydrated.

Step 10: Read your cheat-sheet first thing in the morning. Read it again on the bus and just before your test. Then, PUT IT AWAY (it’s not a real cheat-sheet) and relax…You’ll do great!

** In Conclusion **

As you study, follow these tips:

- Know the format of your test.

- Gather all study resources. Pay attention to “wrong” problems on previous tests/quizzes.

- “Read” the visuals in your text and on your handouts.

- Create a “cheat-sheet” of important information to memorize.

Take advantage of your brain’s natural learning process by connecting “new” information to “old,” study visuals, take short breaks from studying ever 30 minutes, and sleep, drink, and eat well.

Continuing education

There are so many things to be learned about the world. Take a library for example. Think about how many different subjects there are to be studied and learned through the books on the library shelves. You could start reading a book today and still be reading months or years from now. Or consider how much you could learn about something as simple as your favorite flower. Many books have been written and hundreds of websites have been created about that kind of flower alone. There is a complexity to your favorite flower that makes learning about it take longer than you'd first think. Whether you are eight or seventy-eight, continuing education is important for you.

Continuing education does not just mean that you move on to college after high school or that you pursue a graduate degree after completing college. Basically, continuing education means to continue learning. Continuing education happens as we become curious people who care about the ourselves, others, and the world. When we are curious about something it will inspire us to learn about it. Continuing education is simply about becoming a lifelong learner, it is about never being satisfied with the amount of knowledge we have but always pursuing something new.

Think about ways to make continuing education a consistent part of your life. What things are you curious about? Are there things you have always wondered about? Perhaps you would like to know more about the history of the automobile or about the person who invented blue jeans. Allow yourself to wonder things like this, but do not let yourself stop with just wondering. Continuing education means taking the time to study and learn about these and other things.

Continuing education can be as simple as committing to read one book per month for the rest of your life. Think about how much you could learn by reading books on different subjects for the rest of your life. Or, continuing education can be enrolling in a class at a local college just for fun. Have you always wanted to learn about European history? Enroll in a class about it just for your own benefit.

Whatever continuing education means for your life, just do it. You will be glad that you made it a priority to keep learning, and you will be surprised about how little you already know. Once you begin continuing education you will never be able to stop, and that is exactly the point.

How to be the most memorable person at networking events

Most of the people I hear from hate networking. They go only because they know they "should," but it's like pulling teeth for them.

If you've experienced the usual clammy grip of fear when it's your time to introduce yourself, the following may help you feel more at home, make deeper, more lasting impressions, and attract voluntary referrals from many of the other attendees.

First, if you want to take some of the pressure off, it can help to consider your first half-dozen events to be nothing but practice.

It helps even more if you go specifically to listen and get to know who's there, rather than to "sell" your own story. So take along your business cards, but dump your nice four-color 12-page brochures. There's a better way to make powerful impressions.

Here's an example that happened to me on Monday.

My wife does a lot of work for an NGO here in Japan that helps North Korean refugees, but I have little direct participation, other than running their English language website ( northkoreanrefugees. com ).

This past Sunday, we flew over to Seoul for the three-day North Korean Holocaust Exhibition to be held at the Parliamentary building.

The event started with the usual speeches and ribbon-cutting. Then the main organizers all split off, doing individual interviews with journalists. The regular attendees wandered around viewing the exhibits. And those who were there to gather information or disseminate it began mingling, meeting and introducing themselves. In other words, this turned into a networking event.

I wasn't there to sell anything or to persuade anybody, so I wandered around looking for the people who appeared too intimidated or too shy to mingle. These are the folks who hang back by the wall, or who stand alone looking wistful.

I found two ladies who told me they were doing a paper on refugees, so I led them over to the two main activists (I had exchanged emails with the activists for a couple of years, but had only met them in person minutes earlier).

I walked up, tapped both of the leaders on the arm and said, "Excuse me, but you two need to talk with these ladies. They're doing research on your topic. I think they may be able to help you tell your story." Then I backed away and let them have at it.

Later, I met a German journalist who had just arrived in Seoul as the new correspondent for his publisher. I found out what kind of information he was looking for, then led him over to a lady -- one of the refugees who had managed to escape through China -- and introduced him.

Now, bear in mind, I didn't even know the lady, and neither he nor I spoke any Korean, but I took him over and we tried talking with her anyway. Sure enough, some people nearby stepped right up and offered to interpret. Again, I just backed away and let them work.

Later, these people came back to me, appreciative and wanting more information about our NGO and website.

When you concentrate on giving and on priming the pump, good stuff can flow. People WILL remember you if you go out of your way to spread THEIR name around. Boy will they remember you.

The importance of vitamin b-12 supplementation in a vegetarian diet

It's something we read or hear about all the time: people, in general, do not eat healthy. The average diet contains too much saturated fat and simple carbohydrates, elements that can lead to heart disease, obesity and other serious conditions. While not all people who follow a vegetarian diet do so for health reasons, such a diet is beneficial to the health.

There are three main types of vegetarians. Lacto vegetarians do not consume any meat, but instead live on fruits, vegetables and dairy. The lacto-ovo vegetarian diet is similar to the lacto vegetarian, with the exception that individuals who follow this diet consume eggs. As the name implies, fruitarians follow a diet restricted to fruits, but they may also eat nuts and seeds. Considered the most strict vegetarian diet, vegans do not eat meat, eggs, or dairy.

The only negative aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle is the high probability of vitamin deficiency. Depending on the type of vegetarian diet followed, an individual may not obtain the proper nutrients their body needs to function properly. One vitamin that is absent in most vegetarian diets is B-12. Vitamin B-12, which exists in meat, dairy, eggs, and poultry and is essential in the development of red blood cells and a healthy central nervous system. The common symptoms of B-12 deficiency include dementia, fatigue, hallucinations, balance problems, and vision disturbances.

People who have followed a vegetarian diet most of their life are more at risk of B-12 deficiency. Since B-12 can be reabsorbed, people who become a vegetarian later in life will typically do not display any symptoms of deficiency for as many as five years. It is a good idea to prevent deficiency from occurring because it is relatively difficult to reverse the effects of vitamin B-12 deficiency.

Vitamin B-12 deficiency can also result in increased levels of homocysteine in the body. Homocysteine is an antioxidant that when in high levels can have a toxic effect on the body. This is an important issue because as many as 20% of the people diagnosed with heart disease have elevated levels of homocysteine in their blood.

The recommended dosage of vitamin B-12 is 10 micrograms. If you follow a vegetarian lifestyle, it is recommended that you have your blood checked to check for deficiency. If your doctor detects that you have a B-12 deficiency, they will provide additional information about the amount of B-12 you should take.

Window file compare utility for survival

A great software to compare the files on your computer. If you have ever been functioning with different files in the software program that you have been using and all of a sudden you realize that the data has been changed in an unplanned way, it is mainly for some errors in your coding, programming files or data entry done by you. Not so long ago, locating these errors or modifications was a hectic task. You required having a thorough word-by-word or line-by-line comparison of the current files with the previous ones for determining the flaws and following that with the necessary correction.

Such procedures proved to be very much time-consuming, especially in cases where the lines included programming codes and mathematical formulas. All the programmed codes required individual revision and the tricky mathematical formulas required even harder concentration and patience for getting efficient outcomes. Window file compare software was developed to help the users in giving faster and efficient results in such cases.

Another time consuming and mind-numbing task was maintaining email or mail lists. For individuals having marketing list from more than two distinct sources, then the manual name-by-name reviews looking for the duplicates were the most common methodology for cleaning the mailing lists. If there has been modification made in the documents by someone without recording them, cleanup might take days based on the size of the actual document. Locating differences considering both deletions and additions is considered tedious requiring huge concentration when executed manually.

By utilizing window file compare utilities, all such types of laborious manual comparison can be executed in a faster and easier manner. Such window file compare software can be availed in two forms - one is shareware and others form a category that involves their attachment with particular software programs. Some software can be utilized for specific types of files only.

Since comparison is mostly escorted with merging or editing tasks, a good window file compare utility that combines these potential corrections can be excellent for any data working procedures.

There are cases where an organized user of computer is even stuck in situations where his computer is having duplicate files formed on different dates. Unwelcome outcomes may follow the addition or editing of data to older files. Window file compare utility allows identification of duplicate files along with their cleanup and removal in a less hectic manner.

Certain software programs have an inbuilt comparison features. Using these software, you can compare the data of the complete file generated by the program at one go. Following the comparison, you can form a new file having the modified or perfect (to be specific) data.

Other window file compare programs have more functions than the ones having inbuilt software. They are able enough in managing source codes, verifying data, keeping a folder in sync, restoring corrupted data and many more.

There are different shareware window file compare applications that have been made available for making the task easier for checking programs and files in both binary codes and plain English simultaneously. You can easily avail them from the web at a very reasonable pricing.

Switch grass as a possible alternative fuel

The answer to all of America's energy and oil needs might be as simple as a grass, switch grass to be exact. Switch grass is an amazingly easy to produce grass that can be converted to ethanol. Ethanol holds lots of promise as an alternative to gasoline.

When you look at all the benefits of switch grass, it's hard to believe that it isn't being touted more heavily. Switch grass could not only replace some fossil fuels use, it could help alleviate the damage done by years of burning fossil fuels as well.

Switch grass might be thought of as a weed by some, which probably explains its lowly status. But switch grass was elevated to a new, lofty place when President Bush brought it up in his 2006 State of the Union address.

Switch grass has many worthwhile and useful qualities. Chief among them is how easy it is to grow.

Switch grass grows abundantly in the Great Plains and is native to large parts of North America. Picture yourself driving through the Midwest, when you gaze out the window you're looking at lots of switch grass.

cattle, horses, sheep and goats all love to munch of switch grass.

Unlike most plants, switch grass is not picky about soil and conditions. It's incredibly easy to grow even in clay or sand, flood or drought. A gardener's dream plant. Remember, it "grows like a weed."

Switch grass could be a new bumper crop for American farmers, who are being financially squeezed from a million directions.

Not only that, but switch grass can be used to purify water. It's roots can take pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer out of water before it reaches the main waterways. this trait alone makes it useful.

Now as if all that weren't enough, the humble switch grass plant can even help in our efforts to clean the air. Switch grass cleans the air because it absorbs carbon dioxide, that nasty green house gas.

Many places are already experimenting with switch grass as a source for energy, either as pellets for burning or converting it to ethanol.

Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman has already brought up switch grass as a cure for international tensions over competition for fossil fuels. Noting our growing competition for fuel with China before the Counsel on Foreign Relations, Lieberman suggested lots of agricultural products like switch grass, corn and sugar can be used to create new sources of fuel to power our cars and keep our houses warm.

In a world of dependence on fossil fuels and rising gas prices, it is critical to find new sources of alternative energy. In this case, we may have to look no farther than America's "amber waves of grain."

Peace the balm to soothe troubled lives and times

In his masterpiece, "Man's Search for Meaning," Viktor Frankl writes, "Every age has its own collective neurosis and every age needs its own psychotherapy to cope with it." There is a collective neurosis in our world today, it is the cry for peace emanating from individuals, groups, communities and nations, impacting the mass consciousness.

The cries and marches for peace, power and freedom that marked recent decades, present a backdrop for today's human conditions of stress, anxiety, insecurity and turmoil. There are as many civil wars and wars between nations. From the individual perspective, the cry for peace is heralded as respite from the turbulence of today's hectic lifestyle. In the past four to five decades we have lived in such a way as to create challenging situations in our lives and create even more havoc as we try to solve the resulting problems.

There is a popular bumper sticker that states, "Peace begins within," and a hymn that is sung in thousands of churches world-wide on Sundays, "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." Yes, peace begins within the heart and mind of every person. Until we reignite the flame of peace, love and unity there can be no lasting peace in individuals, among people and nations of the world.

Frankl, who lived a life shaped by war, states that, "Man is questioned by life and he can only answer to life by answering to his own life, to life he can only respond by being responsible." The question of whether or not we have lived responsibly in recent decades, has spawned national and international debates. With the widely reported impending consequences of global warming, catastrophes of war and economic collapses, the outlook is bleak. These impact the human condition as they are fed in large daily doses at breakfast, dinner and all throughout the day. Conditions of fear, stress, anger, frustration, rage, insecurity and strife are the results.

For individuals to have lasting peace they must live their lives from the inside out. This idea might send off alarm bells with shouts of hogwash. Well, let us see how real this is and how easily it can be accomplished. "Be in the world but not of the world," was prescribed by one of the great enlightened spiritual minds, eons ago. Is this possible you may ask, I dare to say it is.

To the degree that we become caught up in the dictates and excesses of the outside world, is the extent to which we will experience chaos and turbulence and lack inner peace.

I had first hand experience of this two decades ago. For a while I worked as a journalist and it is a well known fact that the profession is demanding and can be stressful. My publisher and editor was an excess living, driven workaholic, who was always in conflicts, off deadlines and antagonistic to life and everyone in it. He would often ask me how I remained so calm and in control, "Nothing seems to bother you," he would state. My response was always the same, "Be in the world but not of the world." He was fascinated by the idea and wanted to know how I accomplish that. He had no knowledge of spiritual matters and showed no interest in learning. He later became an appendage who watched, studied and leaned on me for answers and solutions. Years later he became feeble, sick and broken.

Stress is a natural response to the excesses that overwhelm our physical and emotional capabilities and life. The real or reality of us lies within us. Strength, courage, peace and power all emanate from within. Our minds that create the thoughts that become things are within us. The learned and great apostle Paul admonishes us not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, that we may prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. He knew over zealousness, rejection, defeat and triumph, but through renewal of his mind, he left us a legacy in spiritual transformation.

When we conform to the world we allow the dictates of the world and its appearances to control our lives. The real of man is spiritual and divine, not the ego driven personality that responds to the whims and fancies of every Tom, Dick and Harry. Stress and conflict occur when the inner spiritual self and its outer personality self are in opposing viewpoints.

Frankl theorizes that mans search for meaning is a primary force in his life which is unique and specific in that it must and can be fulfilled by him alone. Our greatness as human beings lies in our ability to change our minds and the conditions of our lives. What is so great about living in a free, democratic country is that it affords us the privilege of freedom to be all we want to be. Individually we must desire freedom and make the choice for freedom as we live our life. The great author and self help guru, Stuart Wilde, teaches that we should "Concentrate on ourselves and leave the world alone. As we strengthen ourselves we save all of humanity, because we are all linked to one another."

We must desire a change from the stress and turbulent lifestyle we live today. We must dare to rise up, declare, pursue and claim peace for ourselves. This will impact the lives of family and friends and spread out to our communities and our world. The pursuit of peace is perhaps the most followed path to spiritual enlightenment. A peaceful disposition calms the rough and tossed seas of turbulence, strife, fear and discontent.

The book, "Anchor in the spirit as God Beings - More than Mere Human," is presented as an easy to follow guidebook for spiritual transformation. It clearly sets out the conditions that support transformation and offers major tools that will help achieve it. The aim is a changed consciousness by acknowledging the need for change and practicing and living a lifestyle that foster peace, confidence, love and compassion within ourselves. This we then radiate out to touch the lives of others and transform our world. Individually transformed lives will create a mass consciousness of peace and there will be peace on earth, beginning with every one of us.

What better time than the upcoming holy season and the new year, to reignite the flame of peace, love and unity within the hearts and minds of persons and radiate it person to person to blanket our world. It begins with one person, one step at a time, let your new year commitment be to take that first step.

The a-z of motivation

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting bad grades make you realize that you need to study. Debts remind you of your inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives you the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for yourself to save your face from the next embarrassment. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help you to get up and get just the right amount of motivation you need in order to improve yourself.

With all the people trying to pull you down and waiting for you to fail, how can you stay motivated and positive?

Try this A to Z of tips for motivation

A - Achieving your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places because they will only drag you down. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do. Believe in your possibilities and your dreams. Every advancement of humankind has taken place because someone believed in themselves.

C – Consider all of the angles and aspects of everything you encounter, whether it is people or situations. Motivation comes from strength of purpose. Being able to see both points of view will give you more chance of being successful and keeping those around you motivated too.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Every successful person from J K Rowling to Walt Disney to Sylvester Stallone to Thomas Edison had multiple failures before being successful. Sometimes their failures or rejections ran into the hundreds before they achieved success.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don’t need money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends. Use your family and friends to help you stay motivated. The big football teams have cheerleaders and fans to encourage them. Your family and friends can be your cheerleaders and fans. Use them to keep you going when you feel your motivation drifting.

G – Give that little bit extra. Self improvement happens everywhere all the time, whether you are at home, at work or at school. Anthony Robbins tells us that the difference in effort between excellent and outstanding is miniscule, yet the difference in rewards is massive. Giving that little bit extra can put you into the outstanding.

H – Hang on to your dreams. There may be times when it looks bleak, but hang on to your dreams. The night is darkest just before the dawn. It is at this moment that you are closest to success and 95% of people will give up. Push through this moment and you’ll achieve your dreams.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t get involved in their dramas or toxicity – just walk away. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you. Remove those who want to pull you down and watch you fail from your life. You’ll find it much easier to stay motivated.

J – Joy and gratitude. Perhaps two of the fundamentals for motivation and success is to be joyful in what you do and grateful for what you have.

K – Keep pushing forwards no matter how hard life may seem. In the toughest moments you can choose to move forwards or to run away. It’s your decision – one path brings you closer to the success, the other takes you away from it. Which do you want to follow?

L – Learn to love your self. This isn’t as easy as it sounds for most people, but by loving yourself you will be happier and more motivated because you will believe you deserve what you achieve.

M – Make things happen. Motivation and success doesn’t come from sitting in front of the television drinking coke and eating pizza. Take action and you’ll achieve your dreams.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game. At the end of the day, if you live a dishonest life, it will come back to you. Living an honest, fair life allows you to be proud of what you do.

O – Open your eyes. Everyone has a set of blinkers that they wear and see everything through them, i. e. how they would like things to be. Look at life with open eyes and see things how they are, and see them how you want them to be. Then take action to make it happen.

P – Practice makes perfect. The more you practice, the better you become. A top sportsman doesn’t reach their status through a single practice or game. They practice harder and longer than anyone else, and as such, are rewarded more than anyone else.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, which do you want to be?

R – Ready yourself. Always be ready to take advantage of the opportunities and situations presented to you. Prepare in advance, and ignore the voice telling you to put it off until tomorrow. Remember, it wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark!

S – Stop procrastinating. You can put it all off until tomorrow, but one day there will be no more tomorrows. Start procrastinating about procrastinating and do tomorrows jobs today.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline and self control are synonymous with motivation. So many people believe their lives are out of their control. Look at your life in detail and you’ll discover you have more areas under your control than you think.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Understand others and strive to be understood.

V – Visualise it. Your sub-conscious knows no difference between your imagination and reality, so if you rehearse your success in your mind, then your sub-conscious will believe in it and make it happen.

W – Want it more than anything. Every successful person has had a burning desire to achieve their goals. The Wright brothers didn’t invent the aeroplane because there was nothing on the television. They had a burning desire to succeed and kept going, even in the face of setbacks.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on “extras” on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends. This X-Factor sets you aside from the crowd and marks you out for success.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, thinks or talks like you. Value your unique gifts, whatever they are and use them for your success.

Z – Zero in on your dreams and make it happen!!!

Your very own all-in-one bank account

Opening that first bank account is really something else. Few things can compare to the thrill of getting that first passbook. Many of you will agree that it probably marked your independence as well as opened your eyes to financial freedom. Most often, people are in the habit of opening bank accounts in those banks which have been doing business with their parents for years.

No worries there, if they are satisfied with the services of their choice of financial institution. The safety of your money is secured. However, there is a big possibility that their bank might not be offering new and better services that other companies now offer. Smaller, conservative banks do not often introduce new services or options to their clients.

This is the day and age of bank accounts to suit the needs of different people. As the demand from consumers increase, institutions are coming up with ways to be more competitive. For the old-fashioned account seeker, it makes sense to go in for an interest earning checking account which encourages savings. Another is the savings and insurance account for those who wish to protect themselves with an accident insurance, all the while earning interest.

The time deposit now enables you to transfer the interests on a monthly basis, to your specified bank account. With the rise of newer and newer requirements and lifestyles everyday, banks have to ensure that they appeal to customers daily.

Whatever bank account you choose, and whatever services you wish to avail, there are various things that must be considered before making a decision.

- Are you looking for an account that will earn a huge interest? A savings account might be just the thing. Whilst keeping your money secure, you're earning off of your savings. Savings accounts are also coupled with ATM/Debit cards which you can use to purchase from online stores, restaurants and grocery stores.

And whenever you need money, you can rush off to the nearest ATM machine and withdraw some.

- Are you looking for an account that will enable you to pay for utilities? A checking account could be the answer to your prayers. All lending institutions as well as utility service providers accept checks as payments. Checks are as good as cash - you don't even have to worry about sending it via mail. However, most banks do not offer interest for checking accounts, and even charge for the services.

- Do you want your money to earn without gambling it? You would benefit a great deal if you made use of the time deposit service. It is just a matter of choosing the institution with the highest interest rates, as well as the terms in which you can withdraw you money. A rolling time deposit gives you free reign to your money, all the while letting you cash in on interests.

You are not limited to just one option. Just take out the time to talk to your bank and ask about their new services or promos. Discovering the ideal bank account may just be as easy as pie.

Find out what to look for when buying an espresso machine

There are some enticing reasons to think about adding an espresso coffee machine to your list of kitchen appliances. If you are anything like me you will save loads of money by being able to make your own cup of espresso at home instead of forking out dollars at expensive coffee shops and restaurants. And besides you will be able to make cappuccinos and lattes as well - exactly the way you like them.

But before you go off down to your local kitchen accessories shop to buy one, there is a bit of information you might want to consider. The secret to making the best tasting Espresso at home is a bit more complicated than forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans. If you don’t do it right, then you may as well use the old battered coffee pot. The essential part of making the best espresso that doesn’t taste bitter is to extract the entire flavor while leaving out the oils in the beans. A good quality espresso machine will certainly get this right and reward you with that shot of flavor you have come to love and enjoy.

One of the best accessories that come with an Espresso Machine is a frothing wand. This accessory’s basic function is to force steam through the milk - it becomes all frothy so you can make delicious cappuccino style coffee. Also some models come standard with built-in grinders so you can produce your own fresh, fine grounds that are especially suitable for your new Espresso Machine.

Something else that is a bit special are the all-in-one espresso coffee machines. These let you choose between brewing straight coffee or espresso. The majority of these models are programmable so you can set them to start making the coffee at any given time of the day or night. This type of machine is pure luxury if you are the kind of person who looks forward to waking up to a freshly brewed coffee in the morning without having to go to the bother of making it yourself. Just set and forget and it will do all the hard work for you. All you will have to do is pour it into your best coffee cup.

There are of course alternatives to Espresso Coffee Machines. While Percolators seem to have been around forever, there are some excellent alternatives to these like coffee pots that make more than a half decent Espresso coffee. One of the better quality stovetop Espresso makers is the Moka pot which also comes in an electric plug-in version. This model has two chambers with a filter in between the water and coffee grounds compartments.

Basically how it works is the water heats creating pressure, which in turn forces the steam up through the coffee grounds and then into the top compartment where it combines to make Espresso. While Moka pots work reasonably well of course they won’t make as fine a cup of coffee as a dedicated espresso machine.

Another alternative to using a Percolator for making Espresso is the French press. Using this devise is as easy as heating water and pouring it just off the boil into a pot of ground coffee beans. Then all you have to do is let it brew for a few minutes before using a filter type plunger to separate the grounds from the coffee. In my opinion while the French press may be cheap enough to purchase as well as quick to use and provides a no fuss clean-up, it’s not really bees knees at making the perfect cup of Espresso. This is because the coffee grounds sit in the water for too long, which can create a rather bitter taste to the coffee.

As you can see there is a bit to know about espresso coffee before you go out and buy a new coffee pot or brewing machine. Oh and one last thing I should warn you about, once you own a coffee machine you could very well become addicted like me and refuse anything other than the real thing.

Enjoy!

Minimizing credit card debts

Though purchasing a product through a credit card is comparatively easier than paying cash, falling prey to debts through credit card transactions is even easier. Having high credit card debts is definitely not sensible. The interest rates of almost all credit cards are very high. Most people pay only minimum payment every month and manage to hold up high balances, thus losing a huge amount of money by paying interest.

By following certain precautionary measures credit card debts can be minimized as far as possible. Making the balance transfer to another card which has a low or zero rate of interest for a fixed period could be a good option. By keeping this balance at minimum interest rate, you can now pay off the other debts which have higher rate of interest. Ensure that you can make the payment before the end of the offer period, and keep another offer of balance transfer ready. In case a balance transfer cannot be made, it is better to pay off the maximum amount possible, so that the balance can be quickly brought to a minimum.

A tool for debt consolidation can be excellent in assisting minimization of credit card debts. The interest rate during loan consolidation is lesser than that of credit cards. A personal loan can save you a lot of money. The best way to minimize a debt on credit card is by self control, though it could be practically difficult. Reducing the usage of more number of credit cards is the foremost step in minimizing credit card debts.

Most people, if not all, while sorting out their monthly bills, will give more priority for payments on electricity, telephone or rent and keep their credit card payment at the bottom, but by then some small purchases would have been made by the person through his card and at the end the account may either be carried forward with huge interest or may be paid after the due date. A good method of ensuring card payments and controlling card debt is through auto-pay system on card accounts, wherein your bank will automatically pay the balance due from your account every month. For minimizing debts on cards, ensure that at least the balance due is paid off every month so that late fee and higher interest rates can be avoided as far as possible.

Westerners are looking for russian brides

:

For pretty much time an image of the Russian bride has been in ideal woman for every man. And it's not a simple coinsidence – there are some weighty reasons why Americans and Europeans come to Russia in searching for their love.

Actually it's the prior reason is quite simple - they can find in Russia a better wife than at home! When the westerners say «Russian bride» it usually means «the best woman ever»! So why is it this?

It's a common knowledge that there is a huge community of Americans permanently living in Russia, with their own newspapers and websites – you can check the websites of these American expatriates to make sure in the trustworthiness of my words: Russian brides are looking for a husband abroad for the same reason! They want to meet a life partner that they failed to meet at home. They are not going to take advantage of the men to immigrate. They are want to find their love!

The other reason lies in Russian demographics. The thing is that men to women ratios differ dramatically between the countries. The latest figures from The Economist show that in United Arab Emirates there are about 186 males for 100 females. It’s clear the competition for eligible females should be stiff there. If you are a single male, the Emirates will be the last place in the world to look for an available woman - unless you live there, of course.

So what is the best place for a single guy to search for the soulmate? - The lowest men to women ratios are in Eastern Europe. Countries like Russia and Ukraine are on the top of the list, with only 88 males to 100 females in general, in somу cities there's much more women than men (the simple example is Ivanovo, Russia – it's called the Сity of Brides on this matter). The latest Russian census provided astounding figures of 10 million more women than men.

There the situation is exactly the opposite the one of United Arab Emirates: the single men in Russia (as in the other FSU countries) are more precious than gold. So if you are a single guy, exploring your dating options - Russia would be the perfect option!

The third reason (in this list, not by the importance, of course!) - Russian brides are unique! By their nature, Russian ladies are tender and warm, and at the same time they are diligent, strong and hard-working, especially, when they do something for their family and people they love. As history shows, the Slavonic women are not spoiled with feminism. They are mostly family oriented and traditional, they obtain the knowledge of keeping happy family nest from their grandmothers. Those clever old-ladies teach their grand-daughters how to be kind, loving and caring with their future husband and children. The grannies pass on to their lovely descendants the secrets of cooking, sewing, knitting and house-holding. At the early childhood they start reading Russian national fairy-tales to their granddaughters. And those old and kind tales mostly teach the morals and show the attitude of the Russian beauties to her man.

So if you really want to find a woman of your dreams, a woman that will love you forever – just visit Russia or Ukraine. I'm sure you'll find there the lady you deserve!

Boxing gloves everything you need to know

The most important piece of equipment for a boxer is their boxing gloves. When boxing first started many hundreds of years ago, boxers did not use boxing gloves at all. These boxers were known as gladiators, because they fought with their bare hands, and sometimes these fights ended in death.

However as we became more civilized, we realized that this was too brutal of a way for boxers to fight. At this time boxing gloves were first introduced to help protect a fighter’s hands while boxing. These original boxing gloves were called “mufflers”, because they “muffled” the blow on the fighter’s face and hands. However these gloves were not used during matches at first, but only during training. Conventional boxing gloves were not used until much later, but these initial gloves did help to make strides in the protection of boxers.

Conventional boxing gloves fit over the fighter’s entire hand, and about four to five inches up their arms. The gloves are one solid piece of leather over your four fingers, and then there is a place for the thumb. However some states in the United States require the use of boxing gloves without thumbs to help prevent eye injuries. These boxing gloves range in weight from 6 to 12 oz, and the heavier the glove, the harder it is to keep them up, but the bigger the blow can be delivered.

Most fighters will also wrap cloth around their hands before they put their boxing gloves on to give their hands more protection. Boxers will also usually have their trainers tape their boxing gloves around the bottom of their wrist to help keep them in place. Sometimes during a boxing match this tape will come loose and the referee will stop the fight so that the tape can be worked on, so that the boxer’s opponent will not get hurt by the loose tape.

Be a responsible college credit cardholder

According to the study of US General Accounting Office 2001, the credit card for college students are very advantageous especially on medical emergencies, traveling and on cashless transactions. Another study showed that 77% of college credit cardholders use the card for personal expenses while 67% for occasional and emergency expenses.

With these results, is it alarming that college students are allowed to apply for credit cards even without employment yet? Well, we should not overlook the responsibility of these students to handle their finances. Even if they don't earn the amount that they are spending, surely they care about the labors behind these.

And for the college students who wish to have or who are already using the credit cards, here are some tips to a smart way of handling your credit:

First, you should understand that every amount that you add into your balance should be paid on or before the due date to avoid penalties. So learn to take charge of your account so that you would not reach to the point when you are already thirty years old and yet still paying for your accounts when you were seventeen. Sounds exaggerated? Well, it could really happen. Don't let this misfortune ruin your goals.

Study the terms and conditions governing the credit card that you are currently using or the one that you plan to apply. You should know that your purchases via the credit cards are not free! There are in fact additional charges that you pay other than the principal amount that you have spent for your shopping. Some of the fees are finance charges, annual percentage fees, cash advance fees and late payment fees. The finance charges are given to the unpaid account each month. The annual percentage fee is the yearly charge of the credit card provider for membership, so better look for a low rate APR when applying for a credit card. And the late payment fee is of course the charge when you don't reach the due date of payment.

When you receive your allowance for credit card payments from your parents, make sure you settle your accounts promptly. Delaying of payment or not completing your monthly bill can cause your bill to hike. And if this happens, gradually you'll find it hard to meet your chain of debts. Unfortunately, the problem doesn't end up here because the credit report will reflect to your credit history. Surely, you don't want a bad credit name when you apply for a job after graduation. Ideally, employers check on credit history before hiring and before promoting employers to a higher position. You certainly have to establish your credibility and better start it with your good credit name.

Manage your credits. When you shop, don't shop like it would be the last shopping that you will do. Set your priorities and know what you basically need. And since credit cards for college students primarily aim to support and cushion you in times of emergency, don't overuse the card for unnecessary luxuries.

And lastly, prove that you are worth the trust. When you were allowed to apply a credit card, the credit card company assumed that you could carry out the responsibility. So be credit wise. Consider the effect of this in your long run.

Increase traffic with hit exchanges

Hit Exchanges offer one of the best opportunities to generate free traffic, and most importantly, ongoing traffic to your website. It works when you consistently click for credits by viewing other websites. In exchange, you website is shown to others.

However, the real benefit with exchanges is the traffic you earn from referring others. Viral marketing - multiplying over and over again.

The key to making Hit Exchanges work for you is referring others. Hit Exchanges will greatly reward you for referring others, especially active members.

MegaTraffic. org, a leader in this industry, offers you the convenience of promoting just one website in order to build downlines in all of the top ranked Hit Exchanges.

First, join and use each of the Hit Exchanges on a daily basis. We recommend earning a minimum of 50 hits from each of the exchanges. Using a multi-tab browser, like Avant, this can easily be done in less than an hours time. Serious marketers will often surf Hit Exchanges three or more hours everyday. If using a multi-tab browser and a reasonable Internet connection, you should be able to earn upwards of a thousand hits a day. It is just a matter of time before it all works for you.

How valuable is ten-thousand daily hits to your website? We are talking about a level of traffic that occurs everyday. No junk traffic. No pop-up traffic. No auto-surfing traffic. I can tell you from experience, ten-thousand daily hits is extremely valuable. And, from experience, top marketers can achieve this level within a few months or less.

Analyzing traffic visitors v. hits

A key component to every web site is traffic analysis. When analyzing traffic, it is important to understand the difference between hits and visitors…and why both are important.

Be One With The Log

To analyze traffic to a site, you should be looking at your server logs. Server logs come in very raw data, but most hosting companies have interpreting programs that summarize the information into readable form. From these programs, you should be able to analyze who is sending you traffic, the number of hits and visitors among other information.

Hits v. Visitors – The Game Is On…

Many people, myself included, are lazy when it comes to discussing traffic results. We tend to use “hits” as a catch phrase for traffic hitting a web site. This isn’t entirely true. Traffic should always be analyzed in two categories, hits and visitors.

A “visitor” is a click from someplace on the net to your site. In your server logs, a visitor will be credited with visiting the site one time regardless of the number of pages the visitor views. For example, a person entering a brick n’ mortar bookstore is only one potential customer regardless of the number of books the person looks at.

A “hit” is a click on any page of the site and represents a multiple of the visitors. When you review server logs, the hits represent how many times visitors clicked site pages. Going back to our bookstore example, every book viewed by the person in the bookstore would be a hit. So, which information is more important?

Hits v. Visitors – An The Winner Is…

The simple fact is both visitors and hits are important statistics to analyze in your server logs. Obviously, the information on the number of visitors is important because you want to know how many potential customers are coming to your site. That being said, you should never focus on visitors without contemplating hits as well.

Hits are important because the number of hits tells you very important information about your site. Since hits represent the total number of pages viewed by all visitors, you can use the information to determine the effectiveness of your site. I call this by the very original and sophisticated name “hits to visitors ratio.” Let’s go back to our bookstore example.

Assume a person walks into a bookstore and only looks at one book. This may mean the person knew what they wanted, found it and bought it. Obviously, this is an ideal result. But what if a thousand people walk into the bookstore and only look at one

book each? The bookstore would have a problem and start trying to figure out what it is. The hits statistics on your server tell you the same thing.

If your site has multiple pages, you need to find out if visitors are clicking into the internal pages. This is generally known as determining the depth of your site. The simplest way to do this is to divide the number of hits by the number of visitors for a particular time period. This figure will tell you if people are seeing one “book” or taking a look around.

Analyzing your server stats can be a real eye-opening experience. The information can be good or bad, but at minimum you will know if any corrective steps need to be taken.

Bulwark flame resistant wear

Bulwark is the leading manufacturer of flame resistant wear in the US. It produces a host of firefighting and fire-retardant clothing items which can resist flames up to high levels of intensity.

The clothes of Bulwark use the Nomex technology of preparing fire-resistant clothes. These clothes have a sheet of a material known as meta-aramid underneath. Meta-aramid is an extremely powerful flame resistant material that is very close to Kevlar. This material gives a good degree of resistance to both heat and flame, and when fixed underneath the clothes, it provides a good deal of protection to the wearer from potential fire hazards. In fact, Nomex is the same material that has been made mandatory for pilots and motorcar racers to protect them to a great extent during accidents involving explosions.

Bulwark flame resistant clothes have gained a good name wherever protection from fire is needed in the workplace. The Bulwark flame resistant wear caters to all kinds of clothing requirements, such as bib overalls, full bodysuits, gloves and many other varieties. In addition, Bulwark manufactures coats, coveralls, jeans, jackets, shirts and vests and even gear that is resistant to both rain and flame. It also manufactures cheap fire-resistant hoods and knit caps that are used by people working in places that usually have high temperatures. One of its interesting and bestselling products is the high visibility flame resistant vest which is used very popularly by mine workers and people who have to work amidst traffic. These vests have fluorescent colors that ensure good visibility to the wearer. At the same time, they are made of Bulwark flame resistant material that ensures fire protection.

Now let us see some of the most significant Bulwark flame resistant products.

The Bulwark Flame Resistant Coverall is Bulwark's most fire-resistant product. As the name suggests, it covers the person from top to toe, just like the astronauts wear. The coverall has Modacrylic sheets on the inner side for thermal and fire insulation. The outer side is made of a blend of cotton, nylon and twill. The structure of the coverall is very convenient because it has an ankle to shoulder full zipper that is glued on to it. That makes it easy to get in and out of the coverall. The zipper is glued onto the sides and not sewn on, because thread is destructible in a fire.

The Bulwark Flame Resistant Overall is also structured in the same manner as the coverall. This is a bib overall, that means it has a front piece that covers the abdomen. The flame resistant material is the same as the coverall. The overall also has a lateral zipper, and it has five pockets, which makes it ideal for people who need to work with a lot of tools.

There are several types of Bulwark flame resistant jackets, shirts and parkas that have only structural differences in them. The flame resistant design is the same in all of them. They all have a zipper that runs throughout the front, and they have up to four pockets for ease of carrying tools.

For all their high defensive properties in case of a fire of high temperature, the Bulwark flame resistant wear is priced quite modestly. You can get a Bulwark flame resistant coverall under $250, while a Bulwark flame resistant jacket could be got at less than $160. These prices are very economical compared to the other brands available in the market. Can eating more often actually be the answer to losing weight

It may seem like a “contradiction” to suggest that eating “more often” is the answer to getting slimmer, but in reality the idea of eating more often is the only way to speed up weight loss.

Everybody understands what a calorie is -- and everybody “knows” that the best way to lose weight is to begin eating fewer calories per day. Right?

Well, not so fast...

The problem with this way of thinking is that the human body does not burn calories based on a “24 hour day.” In fact, the 24 hour day is just an arbitrary interval of time, and it has no bearing on how your body burns calories.

You see, the human body burns calories in “real time” -- or in other words it burns calories as you eat them (it does not burn calories based on a 24 hour day).

This means that your daily caloric intake is almost meaningless when viewed all by itself.

For example, let’s take a typical dieter who skips breakfast, but who then eats 900 calories for lunch, 900 calories for dinner and 300 calories for a late night snack – for a total of 2,100 calories per day.

This dieter falsely “thinks” that their intake of 2,100 calories per day is the deciding factor in whether they lose weight or not – but in reality the deciding factor is something totally different...

The “deciding factor” lies in how many calories that they eat per “meal.”

For example, if that same dieter took those 2,100 calories per day and divided them evenly into 6 meals (350 calories for 6 meals = 2,100 calories) -- then their body would be able to burn much more of those daily calories throughout the day.

Consequently, the dieter would seriously increase their weight loss results if they did this.

Why is this true?

Simple, because your body burns calories as you eat them, and if you feed your body too many calories at any single “sitting” then the excess calories from that sitting cannot get burned and may wind up stored as fat tissue.

However, if you eat fewer calories per “sitting” then your body has a better chance to burn all of those calories, and if it burns all of the calories at any given meal then your body will be forced to begin burning stored fat tissue for any additional energy that it may need before your next meal (which equals fat loss for the dieter).

So if you eat fewer calories per “meal” but increase the number of meals throughout the day, then you can begin losing more weight while still eating the same number of calories per day (you’ll just be doing it via a greater number of meals each day).

So when a dieter uses this method of dieting the “overall calories” consumed each day would be the same, but yet the dieter’s body would be able to more efficiently burn those calories on a “per meal” basis – and thus the dieter will lose more weight each day.

How to stifle your prospect s inner critics

Critical judgment. . . it's an obstacle for us as sales professionals and persuaders. Our main goal is shutting down the inner critics of the people we're selling our products or services to. This can be accomplished by getting them out of their lives and showing them what could be, something bigger and better.

It's lucky for us, as sales professionals, that everybody, absolutely everybody we've ever talked to, has something amazing going on in their minds. We all have an image of utopia in our minds. And as we talk to our clients and prospects, they have an image of themselves with your product or service and what it would do for them, how it will feel to have it do the very things that would equal their Utopian mindset.

When your prospect is talking to you about what you do, your products, your services, they have already created an imagine in their mind of what you have to offer and how they might interact with it and benefit by it.

Unfortunately for many sales people out there, they do themselves the huge disservice of taking their prospects away from that perfect vision. Fortunate for us, we're not most sales people and we can use this information to our advantage.

Our goal as persuaders is to connect our affluent prospects and clients to the images that they've got rolling around in their minds. We simply need to encourage them to hold on to these images while at the same time eliminating critical judgment. As we do this, we insert ourselves into the Utopian picture.

I'm telling you now, if you try this, you'll have more sales than you know what to do with.

I was working as a sales rep for a health club when I was eighteen years old. I would watch over and over as my sales manager pushed the hot buttons of potential clients. Inevitably these potential clients became paying clients.

This can be done each and every time, systematically, without much wavering. I consider this to be one of the greatest persuasion tools that has ever been created. As I began to use this technique I began also to earn a ton of money.

These skills were taught to me in a therapeutic context. At the time, that was the only way they were available. When I began selling using this, I would find out from my potential client what was wrong and I would then proceed to fix it as much as I could. In doing so, they would inevitably buy from me.

Another name for 'finding out what's wrong with somebody' is: criteria. Eliciting their values. Creating a rapport.

I wasn't fully cognizant that this is what I was doing at the time. I just knew I was making a ton of sales and these sales were making me money and I liked money. And after giving it some thought, I realized I was actually understanding the idea of their 'hot button' only in a slightly different context. I was getting their criteria and getting it quickly and with elegance. I began also to realize that I didn't have to fix them but merely point the way to the solution of their problem with what I had to offer.

Here's the key: rapport, criteria elicitation, values elicitation, and an understanding of base human drives. Combine all this with our product and present it to the client and prospect in light of their base drives and criteria. This is the goal. Can you see instances in your life right now where rapport is in action? Think about your relationship with your significant other. Can you see it there?

Office politics

OFFICE POLITICS – GOOD or BAD?

In almost every working environment we are faced with office politics. It seems to find a way of involving us and usually not by choice. The key to coping with these circumstances without crossing any ethical boundaries is to first and foremost decide what is of importance to you - the short term chance of promotion or the long term value of your professional development, which can take a life time to build but can serve as inspiration for life times to come.

Some people think that they should avoid office politics all together, but statistics have shown that those who understand and use these politics are more likely to succeed than those who dismiss it all together.

As Andrew DuBrin once said “to ignore office politics is to ignore those underlining forces that account for the differences in success between equally talented people”.

There are two different types of office politics, good and bad. Which ever one you choose to participate in is solely up to you. First you must distinguish between the two.

Bad politics can consist of:

• Withholding or delaying information that may be needed

• Deliberately holding meetings or making decisions without all parties necessary

• Arranging scenarios that make others look bad or set them up for failure

• Discrediting the efforts of others or taking credit when it is not deserved

• Not delivering on promises made or denying the legitimate requests of others for your benefit

• Giving false support or advice in order to serve your own agenda

• Complaining, criticizing, wasting time on gossiping or harassing others

Good politics can consist of:

• Going out of your way to insure the success of others even when it serves no purpose or benefit to you

• Building trust, the key to building trust is through consistency and understanding

• Your peers feeling comfortable to come to you with their questions and or issues

• Creating a lighter environment in times of stress

• Seeing things through to the end, not abandoning people mid way

To show leadership you must first of all understand office politics as well as the times to participate in it. In the CMC leadership course, it points out 7 steps to winning at office politics while protecting yourself:

1. Pinpoint what you want and why

2. Identify who controls what you need

3. Find out who can get you what you need

4. Figure out what you need to do what you want

5. Go for it with determination and resolve

6. Watch out for the harmful politics of others as you go (ethical)

7. Protect yourself along the way

Circumstances we face in life can take away everything we have worked hard to acquire; everything except our name, for it is the essence of who we are. The only way we can lose this is if we make the conscious decision and are willing to give it up.

So in the end you must ask yourself, is a promotion worth your name?

Halloween activities for toddlers pumpkins

Halloween inspires all kinds of activities to do with your toddler, especially pumpkin fun! Visiting the pumpkin patch together, shopping for (or making) Halloween costumes, and decorating the house. But one of the best Halloween activities is doing art projects together.

Here are two very simple pumpkin crafts that every toddler will enjoy. Prepare for the activity in advance, so your little ball of energy can dive right in.

Simple Paper Jack-o-Lantern

There's nothing at all fancy about this idea. Simply cut a few pumpkins out of orange construction paper. Then, cut several triangles and a few big goofy grins out of either black or yellow paper. Lastly, cut a stem shape and leaves out of green or brown paper.

Present the pieces to your toddler along with a glue stick and watch his creativity. Consider framing this work of art with some photos of your child at the pumpkin patch.

You'll treasure those three-eyed jack-o-lanterns years from now.

Pumpkin Painting

Oftentimes younger children miss out on the fun of jack-o-lanterns, because they obviously are too young to handle a knife. A toddler can scoop pumpkin guts, and draw a face onto a pumpkin, but then the rest must be handed over to an adult for the actual carving.

Here's a safer option. Pumpkin Painting. Think of how much fun your toddler or preschooler will have designing a pumpkin from beginning to end. And, don't stop with pumpkins. Paint gourds, too. Simply put an old t-shirt on your toddler, get out non-toxic paints, head outside so you don’t have to worry about the mess and he'll go to town.

Spending art time with your toddler is not difficult and doesn't need to be challenging. Just give him age-appropriate tools, grab your camera, and relax. Your child will feel cherished, and you'll begin a tradition of making memories together.

Watch out Picasso. There's a new artist in town.

How to choose the right chess set

There are no shortages of chess sets for you to choose from out there. As a result BraRoe Chess would like to provide you this service to help make you experience the best that it can be.

When you look to purchase a chess set, you two different options in front of you:

• Choose a combination of pieces and a board that has been pre-selected for you

• Individually choose the chess pieces and the chess board for you own chess set

With both options, there are a couple of things that you want to keep in mind. The first is price. Choose a chess set that is built to last. You are going to have many memories attached to your set, and one of the best things that you can do is to keep the set around for generation to enjoy. Always buy the highest quality set that you can afford.

Second is quality. The quality is something that you will be able to both see and feel. The pieces should have a good solid feel to them every time you pick one up. Next, pay attention to the crown of the King, the finer the details, then the higher the quality. Lastly, the knight is the most noticeable piece that you will have on your board. Study it curves and details. True quality sets will have a finely, hand-carved knight.

Now keeping this in mind, choosing an existing Chess Set is much simpler. You take the time to choose between the Classic Staunton Chess Set or a theme that you like (i. e. Civil War, Mythology, etc.); purchase the set, and wait for it to arrive.

The second option, takes a little more thought.

Matching wood types:

Wood Chess Sets:

Ebony pieces match well with basic Black and White boards or with Ebony/Madrona Board

Rosewood pieces look great with boards that are also rosewood or those made from Mahogany

Sheesham woods fit best with Walnut boards as well as with Bubinga or Hazelnut Boards

Metal Chess Sets:

Metal Sets match with wood boards, but also go well with brass boards as well as leatherette boards

Matching Size

The size of the chess board square is determined from the diameter of the chess pieces’ King. Take the diameter and multiply it by 1.33 (4/3). If need be, you can go a little bigger, but you really don’t want to go smaller. Example a 1.25 diameter base x 1.33 is 1.66 inch board. Boards with 1.75-inch boards would be perfect.

After that, all you need is to order the chess pieces and board and start creating you own chess memories.

Links between stress shift work and serotonin levels

The 21st Century is best characterized by the advent of ultra-modern technology, global commercial and business, and the unstoppable desire to get and stay ahead. Because of these factors, business corporations compete in a world where the economy is active 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This phenomenon created a demand for employees that would work even during the night upto the wee hours of the morning. This work schedule reversed employee lifestyle, making the day their time to for sleeping. Shifts may disrupt the normal body functions, hamper sleep cycles, and reduce the body's serotonin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is found in the central nervous system and impacts multiple functions like mood, sleep, sexuality, and appetite. This neurotransmitter may also promote cell regeneration.

Studies show that non-day shift workers tend to have lower levels of “feel-good” hormones called serotonin. Researchers at the University of Buenos Aires led by Dr. Carlos J, Pirola studied 683 men and compared 437 day workers to 246 shift workers. The results, the shift workers' serotonin levels, measured through blood tests were significantly lower than those on regular day schedules. In addition to reduced serotonin levels, shift workers were also found to have higher cholesterol, hip-to-waist ratios, increased blood pressure, and higher triglyceride levels.

Because serotonin levels administer sleep patterns and other body functions, the University of Buenos Aires study suggested that shift work may also lead to a so-called Shift Work Sleep Disorder. People with this disorder tend to remain awake when they should be sleeping. These individuals can be very tired during waking hours. This disorder takes place because of a work schedule that takes place during the normal sleep period. Because of this, people who have difficulty getting sleep because their bodies are still programmed to be awake. The time of being asleep and being awake is different from what the body's internal clock expects.

Other studies also found out that non-standard and night shift work may affect the cardiovascular and metabolic systems. These studies suggest that there is a possibility that shift work is directly responsible for high blood pressure and increased body fat, according the researchers of the Buenos Aires study. In addition to the disruption of sleep patterns, reduced levels of serotonin are also linked to other conditions like stress, anxiety, and depression.

Lifestyle changes can lead to improved serotonin levels. To make serotonin levels consistent, sleep patterns should be consistent and food regimens should include necessary vitamins and minerals to control the serotonin levels. Certain drugs and substances like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and antidepressants should be avoided because they may deplete serotonin production.

Individuals who want to improve their serotonin levels can use medication to aid them in their goal. The amino acid 5-HTP can be taken as a supplement and improve the body's ability to manufacture serotonin. Another amino acid called L-tryptophan is used by the body to produce serotonin. However, before taking these supplements, patients are advised to seek the approval of doctors and other health professionals. Individuals who choose to work in the night should maintain adequate rest to lessen ill-effects that may develop. Healthy lifestyles and nutritious food regimens may improve serotonin levels and improve one's quality of life.
